Made by Hand
Far far away, behind the word mountains, far from the countries Vokalia and Consonantia, there live the blind texts.
Brass: A significant amount of our jewelry- rings, neck pieces, and bracelets- are crafted in brass. Brass is long lasting, does not tarnish or turn your skin green, and shines with depth.
Silver: Our work comes in silver as well, to hold both gem stones and cowrie shells as well as to shine on its own.
Inspired by Nature
Kasimbi is wearable art conceptualized and hand crafted by Tendai Mahlengwe, and inspired by nature. Kasimbi is a Shona word for metal, and reflects Tendai’s journey with making art out of various kinds of metal, a long time tradition in his home country of Zimbabwe.
Tendai has worked with metal all his life, first as a crafter of wire art and later, jewelry. His unique designs are inspired by his surroundings and history- water, stone, and wood - all the elements that come from the Earth. In particular, the cowry ring is rooted in the shell's history- histories of healing in Africa, of preciousness and currency, and of course the connection to the sea.
Enjoy Kasimbi pieces for everyday wear - and for special occasions. Each jewelry is made by Tendai’s hand through the process of manipulating silver or brass or gold, therefore never tarnishing on your skin. His jewelry is for any and everyone who may love his well thought out designs. * We hope you feel confident and playful in these designs, and can appreciate local, handmade art!
